THE CHALLENGE:
The customer’s team was manually scanning and printing labels for every package—slowing down throughput and increasing the risk of error. They needed a partner to reprogram their existing conveyor and stretch wrap systems to automate this process. The goal: stop each package at a new labeling station, apply labels accurately, and then eject it automatically to continue down the line.
THE SOLUTION:
Using TIA Portal V19, we upgraded the customer’s system programming to support advanced automation. We installed two position switches across all stretch wrappers and the main conveyor panel, enabling seamless integration with the new labeling process—while preserving the ability to revert to the original manual workflow if needed. To ensure failsafe operation, we also added a local eject button at the new labeling station, providing manual control in the event of an automation fault.
THE RESULTS:
The solution proved so effective that the customer is now rolling it out company-wide. By automating the labeling process, they’ve eliminated the need for one manual position per stretch wrap station—resulting in significant labor savings across a dozen stations and driving measurable operational efficiency at scale.
